The life of a £10,000 invoice

Let’s follow one invoice and see what happens to it...

You’ve done the work, sent the invoice, and your customer has 60 days to pay. That’s normal. It’s also 60 days of waiting for money you’ve already earned.

Without funding

Day 1: The invoice goes out. Your bank balance doesn’t change.
Day 15: Wages are due. The invoice is still sitting there.
Day 30: A new supplier wants paying upfront. You say no to the order, or you dip into the overdraft.
Day 60: Your customer pays. The cash arrives, but two months late.

With funding - invoice finance

Day 1: The invoice goes out and you ask the lender to fund it. Typically around 85% is paid into your account within a day or so. On £10,000, that’s £8,500.
Day 15: Wages are covered.
Day 30: You say yes to the new order and buy the stock.
Day 60: Your customer pays. The lender takes its fees, and the rest of the money comes back to you.

Same invoice, same customer, same payment date. The difference is that your money was available when you needed it.

The bit people worry about

The usual question is “will my customers know?” It depends on the type of facility. With confidential invoice discounting, they don’t. With factoring, the lender handles credit control, so your customers do know. There’s no right answer, only what suits your business.

Where we come in

Fiskal looks at the whole market, not a short list of lenders. We find the one that fits your business, and our service costs you nothing at any point, because the lender pays us.
